The origin of the nativity scene is thought to be with Saint Francis of Assisi, the story/scene enacted with real people in Lazio Italy in 1223. Yet early drawings are found in the catacombs of Rome, 380 AD. Following 1223, pairings and statue sets (created for Kings and Queens) became more common. Of course, today many people collect them.

Here I share a few with quotes and scripture as we draw even closer to the season of Christmastide (12 days). I will add to this post daily till January 5.

Merry Christmas! Christ is born!
