I fell.
I fell in love.
Again today
Yesterday, a single circular flax flower -rays the color of azure at my mailbox
Today.
Today the fog remains well into mid morning
Making the world mysterious
I saunter through the backyard barefoot, foraging
asking non-human friends
for what they’ve let go—.
they oblige with glee
My finger rakes upon the ground, yield white pine needles in abundance from green to yellow to brown

With feet chilled on Tierra
I come to today’s love: apple tree
Small. Unkept. Unnoticed.
A light twist of the deep red fruit tells me they are not ready to let go
The dew envelops every leaf and apple. Drops of water, cling, hang and drip…everehere

These drops of life-water reveal what is normally unseen. The artwork of eight legged friends.
Multiple webs complete with minuscule water droplets: outlining each silk thread

Showing us the unseen
They are even difficult for the camera to capture yet the human eye focuses perfectly
Is this friend I fell in love with today the essence of love?
Always there often unseen
Like webs around us every moment: in corners of homes, on top of blades of grass, balancing and even swinging in trees
Until the day of the fog gives us a new way to see
On the days
On the days we all have…
when love is unseen, unfelt,
not dripping onto your bare skin
Could it be that love is simply invisible as spider silk?
May we remember these days… when we saw the wisps of connection
and smile within,
knowing.
